Standard 8.4 | Professional Learning Networks
Foster educator participation in professional learning networks to help them connect with other educators and stay abreast of current and emerging technologies and innovations. (PSC-IT 8.4)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Contextualization
Throughout the semester, I participated in various Professional Learning Networks. I held both participant and facilitator roles within these groups. I made goals for my participation for the semester, as well as long term goals. At the end of the semester, I reflected on these goals.
In Artifact 2, I identified the various Professional Learning Networks that I have been part of during this program and am currently a part of. At the school level, they included: Technology, Vertical Team, and PLC (5th grade). The PLNs at the district level are known as CCCs, Cobb Collaborative Communities, and they were: CCC – Interventionist, CCC – Math, and Cobb InTech. The artifact showcases examples of active participation, ways in which I created and contributed to discussions, and times when I have requested support. A final reflection is included to summarize my participation in these digital networks. This criterion is highlighted in the video from 0:00 to 3:55.

- CCC - Interventionist - district level
- Cobb InTech - district level
Fostering Participation of Others in Professional Learning Networks
Technology - school level
-support grade level teams with iPads, laptops, applications, new boards, Microsoft Tools, CTLS platform
-yearbook production (solely responsible for the Ads section)
-support with online resources
-maintain school website
The main goal of completing the yearbook has been met. I have enjoyed the team and hope to be part of this PLN next year.
Vertical Team - school level
-meet monthly to increase cohesiveness in writing throughout K-5
-this year's focus was on opinion writing
Not as effective due to the inconsistent meeting times. This team can be improved with proper planning that follows a given curriculum.
PLC - school level (5th grade)
-grade level weekly meetings are held to analyze the standards, how they are assessed, and the outcomes
-data is supposed to be analyzed by specific subgroups to ensure all students' needs are being addressed
Curriculum was rushed and standards were covered too quickly without ensuring understanding. A change in the team members may be beneficial.
CCC - Interventionist - district level
-interventionists utilize System 44 or Read 180 and DreamBox in Grades 3 and 5 provided by the CARES Act
-the goal is to provide students with intentional and personalized interventions
-foundational skills are taught in smaller group settings allowing for closer progress monitoring
-data collection and reporting
This has been my second year in this role. It has been great to see students' progress. The federal funding was for two years so this program may not continue due to budget constraints.
Cobb InTech - district level
Cobb Instructional Technology and the Academic Division 2023 joint summer conference
Schedule for the conference has not been released. I have attended this annual conference since it started. It is a great opportunity to connect with amazing EdTech leaders and colleagues to learn about the latest in innovative education technology.

Plan for Educator Professional Learnings
Phase 1
Create a professional biography to be able to share it on different PLNs, specifically on Twitter.
Phase 2
Participate in a few Twitter chats and begin seeking out specialty chats relevant to my role.
Phase 3
In addition to chats, I plan to build my Personal Learning Network by following people and finding additional hashtags of interest to follow.
